Sunday first day of Eid Al-Fitr in UAE: Presidential Court



The Presidential Court has declared that tomorrow, Sunday, will mark the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in the United Arab Emirates, following the confirmed sighting of the Shawwal crescent this evening.

Below is the full statement from the Presidential Court:

“The Presidential Court, based on the decision of the Shawwal Crescent Moon Sighting Committee for the year 1446 AH — formed under the UAE Council for Fatwa — which held its meeting this evening at the historic Qasr Al Hosn in the capital, Abu Dhabi, on 29 Ramadan 1446 AH, corresponding to 29 March 2025, and after reviewing the reports and results of moon sighting efforts across the country, has confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal crescent in a manner consistent with Islamic legal standards.

Accordingly, Eid Al-Fitr will begin tomorrow, Sunday, 1 Shawwal 1446 AH, corresponding to 30 March 2025.

On this blessed occasion, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE — may God protect him — and to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai — may God preserve him — and to Their Highnesses, the members of the Supreme Council of the Union, the Rulers of the Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Court, as well as to the Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, the people of the United Arab Emirates, and to the entire world. We ask Almighty God to return this occasion to us, our beloved nation, and all people with blessings, prosperity, goodness, and joy. Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.”
