Massive fire breaks out at oil refinery in Iraq's Erbil



A massive fire broke out at the asphalt storage facility of an oil refinery in Erbil province, northern Iraq, last night.

According to security sources and eyewitnesses, ten firefighting teams were deployed to control the blaze.

Sources at the scene indicated that thick smoke rose hundreds of metres into the air, covering a large area. Civil defence teams have cordoned off the site to prevent the fire from spreading.
